Some Interesting Stats Thus Far

There have only been 26 games thus far in the young 2012/2013 NHL season, but all ready the league has come back with a bang. Thanks to the crammed schedule, the past three days have provided a plethora of highlight reel goals, saves and plays that have managed to hush lockout critics and excite fans once more. I’ve no doubt Bettman and Fehr are laughing while swishing their brandy and clipping their cigars as the excitement and mirth among fans have cast a daunting shadow over those who still hold a grudge toward the NHL. But no matter where you stand, it’s hard to deny the NHL’s flashy return. Here are some interesting stats:

Hockey Hockey Hockey! Eastern Conference Predictions

Kessel-PlumsI had become content with no hockey. In fact, Christmas came early with news on the Blue Jays, which filled the void while visions of Kessel danced in my head. The anticipation for the World Juniors was more exciting than ever, with no NHL to compete with. You see, I was livid. It was like losing a best friend who I only get to see nine months out of the year anyway. I felt betrayed, and shared every other emotion the myriad angry fans displayed. As the days passed, losing my friend was no longer difficult to cope with. I was sure I wouldn’t even care if the lockout ended. But then it did. And I’d be lying to you if I denied staying up until quarter-after-five when the announcement  was made. Ever since then I’ve been playing catch-up with all the news and transactions from last year, and I’ve had a hell of a time in doing so. Anyway, I believe I have a decent grasp on the dynamics of the Eastern Conference. Here are my brief predictions:

Top Ten Movies I Look Forward to Seeing in 2013

James was right. No hockey equals winter boredom. I replaced my first love with my second: movies. Glorious, fantastical movies. However, unless you live under a rock, nay, a mountain, you probably heard the lockout has reached a tentative agreement. But that won’t stop me from talking about movies. You see, I’m still mad at hockey. Hockey broke up with me and it took several months to recover. Now that it’s back, I can’t just dive back in head first, or I’ll seem desperate (Who am I kidding, I’m desperate). Anyway, here’s what 2013’s got cookin’, plus a few honourable mentions.
